Three Complementary Insight Methods

To create a robust insight process, we combine three different methods:

1. Quantitative Measurement with Top Tasks

Top task measurement and completion rates give us the hard facts:

  • What matters most? Top task measurement shows what users actually come to do

  • How well does it work? Completion rates show how many succeed with their tasks

  • How is it developing? Continuous measurement shows the effect of changes over time

  • Point measurement Targeted surveys after important interactions (e.g. after form submission)

With tools like Skyra we can establish a solid data foundation for priorities and decisions.

2. Qualitative Understanding through Interviews/User Testing

To understand why users behave as they do, we need qualitative methods:

  • Unmoderated testing: Simple, automated user tests provide efficient insight into actual behavior

  • Moderated user testing: Deeper insight through direct interaction with users

  • Customer interviews: Exploring needs and motivations behind behavior

With tools like Testflow we can easily conduct user tests that provide deep understanding of why users succeed or fail.

3. Insight Culture in the Organization

For user insight to have value, it must become an integrated part of organizational culture:

  • Cross-functional participation: The entire team observes users together

  • Empathy and understanding: Direct user observation builds genuine empathy with users

  • Regular routines: Weekly insight sessions become a natural part of the workflow

  • Short path from insight to action: Concrete actions based on insights

  • Documentation and sharing: Insights are spread throughout the organization
